Algorithm Methodologist

The Algorithm Methodologist (AM) plays a key role in HWT's Algo Group, supporting client projects through research and the direction of complex database queries.

The AM is responsible for research into client-specific medical procedures, diagnosis and coding guidelines. The aim of the research and analysis is to identify overpayments related to fraud, waste, abuse, and inappropriate utilization of heath care services at the state level. Working with HWT's team of Algo Developers, the Algo Methodologist develops models to identify patterns of overpayments, conducts quantitative analysis; assists with preparation of written reports and presentation of analytical results; and supports researchers and team leaders in completing project related research activities.

Experience Guidelines

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in health care claims analysis for Medicare, Medicaid or other medical claims insurance agency. A broad knowledge of health care delivery systems is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the development and maintenance of complex queries and procedures in a variety of database platforms (Oracle, Access, MSExcel, etc.)
  • Experience with MS Access, HTML, Crystal Reports or other report generation packages
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate in a team environment, while being personally accountable for individual results
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • A strong desire and ability to grow professionally

A Bachelor's or Masters degree in a health care or related field (eg. Health Policy and Management) with documented experience performing health care data analysis.
